Once you open the cabinet, you'll receive a House Token and have to return to Nellie. Wait for it to fly in the center, and when it's there, slap it. You'll need to time it just right to get the key in the slot.
Get near the key and use it to unlock the House Cabinet, as shown in the picture below.
As soon as you arrive at the top of the tower, the key will appear and begin flying downstairs.The key can be found in the classroom near the staircase in front of a locked cabinet. Once you're done talking with Nellie, you'll need to go to the Astronomy Tower to look for the key. Nellie explains that she's tried to get the keys before but has failed. Nellie will explain why the headmistress did that. Why would a headmistress do such a thing? This option will further the quest, and after, you'll be left to solve the puzzle.
